what’s in a name? part 1

O LORD, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
Psalm 8:1 NAS

Studying the names of God has been a bit overwhelming. There are so many! His Word gives numerous specific names that describe His nature and His character and His attributes. Each name of God shows Him in a different way. Many are hard for me to understand, and hard for me to grasp, and hard for me to learn.

At the beginning of the long list is the Great I AM, and it’s His name forever.

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you ' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.
Exodus 3:14-15 NAS

God is: He Who was, He Who is, and He Who will be always. I don’t know all of God’s names, but I do know His name is majestic!

And, as for me, my name is Liz, and ‘I'm a child of God’.
