i trust in Jesus, so i’ll follow Him down that road

When I’m struggling, hurting, or suffering, life can be hard.  It can be a battle.  Everyone walks down that road.  It can be hard.  We all fail at something.  We’re human.

When I’m faced with struggles and all the other battles, I can’t figure it out on my own.  (Whatever ‘it’ is.)  I have questions but don’t know the answers.  I don’t know which way to go.  Walking down that road, with endless crossroads and hills and valleys and tunnels and bridges, it can be daunting. (Stop thinking that way.)

But, I’m not alone.  Thru it all, I have Jesus!  He saved me! He loves me!  He’s the only one I can turn to.  He’ll guide me and comfort me and restore me and teach me and strengthen me and heal me and calm me and protect me and lead me and direct me.  I trust in Jesus, so I’ll follow Him down that road.  Wherever He leads I’ll go.

I found this copied in one of my journals (fitting for this post):

It’s like this.  Jesus wants us to give not only our struggles, but everything to Him. Think about a very heavy box you’re carrying. It’s next to impossible to carry it by yourself and you end up dropping it.  So, you ask someone to help you.

Let the box represent your struggles.  Don’t even try to carry them by yourself.  Remember, you’ll end up dropping them.  Ask God for help.  And, don’t forget that each struggle is just a small chapter of the story He is writing for your life.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.
Romans 5:3-5 NLT

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.
Romans 8:18 NLT

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.  Those who know Your name trust in You, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You.
Psalm 9:9-10 NLT

In His kindness, God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.
1 Peter 5:10 NLT
